Acne Studios’ Seasonal Soles – NEW IN

Acne BOOTS 1

A label synonymous with “it” girls, cool kids and all things edgy, Acne Studios has quite the cult following. It also has some of my favourite ready-to-wear pieces like these Puffy boots. They are going to be perfect for the long, cold, harsh winters up here in the North. I can finally be trendy and functional! Haha.

The boots have the perfect soles with lots of traction for the snowy, icy weather we tend to get in the cold months up here. I can almost feel a slightly cooler breeze in the air. Can anyone else? The sun still kisses my skin, but the breeze has began to lick against it too. The nights are cooler and the stars have begun to shine sooner. How I long for autumn.

It’s exam time for me and I am stressed!! haha. I have been reading the same line of work over, and over , and over again and it’s still not sinking into my brain. It’s like a wall has formed between my memory and the rest of my brain.
I’ve been stating up until the early hours of morning studying and stressing over having due dates that are bound to come no matter what. And while all this has been going on, I have forgotten to make sure that I am okay. I haven’t been eating supper, washing my face, I only shower long enough to wash my hair and rinse my body. I. Am. A. MESS!!!
So, todays post is going to be about how I take care of my self, and what I like to do to pamper myself.
1. Get Comfy / / Put CLEAN, but comfy clothes on. Take that damn bra off, and those tight jeans. Swap them for some Pj’s or sweats.
2. Wash your face: Wash the days pollution away. there is no better feeling then washing off my make-up. and throwing my hair up into a messy bun.
3.Put a face mask on: Nourish your skin, it’s sensitive and the weather is so harsh on it this time of year.
4. Eat something: I always forget to eat supper when I’m stressed. I don’t know why… I love food. So go make some mac n’ cheese.
5. Have a bath/shower: what ever you prefer. Put a bath bomb in a bath or some epsom salts. If you prefer showers, just spend some extra time doing the things you don’t allow yourself to do. Shave your legs, put a deep condition in your hair or anything you love, but don’t have time for.
6. Light a candle: Turn off the lights and light a candle, it’s so calming and will make your room or where ever so beautiful smelling. I always forget how much I love candles until I actually light them.
7. Watch your favourite movie: If you don’t have time to watch a movie, put an episode of your favourite T.V. show on.
8. Use a humidifier: Put some lavender oil in it to help you fall asleep.
9. GO TO SLEEP: I can’t function without enough sleep, and I haven’t been getting enough for over a weeks now. So, treat yourself and got to sleep early. You’ll feel so refreshed in the morning. Like a new life has started.

What do you do to relax??

Winter Blues

I usually love the winter, I grew up in Northern Canada I kind of have to. But, this year has taken a toll on me. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the winter. It’s beautiful and I’m so grateful to have grown up in a place where I get to experience all 4 distinct seasons.

But, sometimes it feels like I’m trapped under water and I don’t know what way is up or down. I panic for a while, but then I just let it happen.  I’m just letting it happen. I feel like I just want to sleep, and I’m not motivated to do anything. Lack of sunlight, and not being able to spend time outside isn’t something I’m able to live with, especially for almost 5 months of the year.

But I’m fine. This feeling is temporary, and does not control me. I can feel sad, without being sad. I have gotten through this before and I’m so close to getting through this season once again. I can’t wait for spring to come around.

The Best Winter Coats

Hola! I love coats. I feel like they complete a look, and can completely change the out come of your look. I live in Canada, so having coats that are cute are a staple for the winter and the transition from winter to spring. So, I have rounded up my favourites I have found on the web.
  1. This navy blue trench coat from ASOS is a great staple to have if you want a more professional look to an outfit, while keeping everything warm, including your booty!
  2. This shearling jacket from Acne is so in style right now. It will also keep you nice and toasty due to the Shearling it is made out of.
  3. This blazer jacket from Topshop is work chic, and is so cute when worn a couple sizes to big. And is perfect for those warmer winter days.
  4. This classic trench coat from Nelly is a dream. It is thick, to keep you warm. But, it will keep your outfit looking stylish and chic.
  5. Another jacket from Nelly would be perfect for the warmer days that are coming. With the blue stripes and robe like look it is super on trend.
  6. The last one is from Gucci. This jacket is beautiful, its my DREAM. It’s warm, stylish, with beautiful colours.
What style of coat is your go to?

Photoshoots, and Do Nothing Days

Hola! How’s everyones day been? I have spent the day doing absolutely nothing, and it’s nice! I made myself some pancakes this morning with some cooked berries on top. I had a cup of coffee and some orange juice as well.
After, I got dressed and a mini photo shoot happened…
I like to think I’m a professional…

I think I’m going to have a little pamper night, and the call it quits for the day. See yah soon!

Winter Skin

For me personally, I have never had to worry about dry skin. I have however, always had to worry about having very oily skin. I would honestly have to re-powder my face at least 10 times a day if I wanted to keep a matte look or a perfect glow kinda look. But, this fall and winter have thrown a whirl-wind my way, and my skin has decided it wants to be dry…like really dry. I admit, I panicked at first having never had to worry about even combination or normal skin let alone dry skin, and I only owned products the would keep oil away and work to dry my skin. This meant I had to find all new skin products… which is scary as I also have the most sensitive skin when it comes to break-outs. But I think I have finally gotten a good regime to follow.

Cleanser wasn’t on the top of my list of things I thought I would need to replace, but after some reading about dry skin I realized the cleanser I was using was way to harsh for my skin now. After looking through recommendations for dry skin, I found the Soy Face Cleanser by ‘Fresh’ and after the first use I fell in love. It has the power to clean off any makeup, including eye makeup, and when i’m done it leaves my face feeling clean, without feeling stripped of natural oils in my face.
Moisturizers scare me. Having always had oily skin the idea of intentionally putting moisture on my face seemed odd. But, I new I had to do it. So, I ordered one that again wouldn’t break the bank, and also said that it would help with dark spots, and skin discolouration (something I also struggle with). OleHenriksen’s moisturizer ‘Sheer  Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer’ from their Transform line is a new staple in my skin routine and something I look forward to doing every night and morning. I also have noticed amazing results with the discolouration in my skin after using this moisturizer.

Eye Serum
At the age of 17, my mother questions me every time I put on my eye serum because ‘what wrinkles are you worrying about?’. Well I have come to the conclusion that I would rather prevent myself from getting them, then have to work twice as hard to reverse them. So while in LA this summer I treated myself and bought the ‘Hydra Beauty Micro Gel Yeux’ by Chanel eye serum. I don’t have anything to compare it to as it is the first one I have used, but I have loved it so far and haven’t found anything negative to say about it as of yet.
Face Masks
I love sheet masks. They are my favourite beauty item every. They are so mess free and are great for moisturization as you don’t wash your face afterwards, and just let all that moisture sink into your skin the whole night. I love the Sephora brand ones, as well as the Dr Jart+ and the Boscia hydrogel masks.
I’m a Carmex girl. Always have been, always will. It never fails me and never leaves my lips dryer then they were before like most do to my lips. It may not have the prettiest packaging, but it does the job better then any I have ever used.
What are your winter skin go-to’s?

My Go-To Breakfast

Winter in Canada means dark, cold mornings, and a coziness in your bed that you don’t want to leave. But lately I have found it a little easier to get myself out of bed with the promise of reheating my hot water bottle and a nice big bowl of oatmeal.

I know what your thinking… what the hell is so special about oatmeal? Well let me tell you, this oatmeal is so damn good and doesn’t take much effort to make, perfect for those extra cold mornings.
What you’ll need:
  • bowl
  • intant oatmeal
  • blueberries
  • pomegranate seeds
  • rasberries
  • ground flax seeds
  • dairy-free chocolate chips
  • almond milk

Let’s Enjoy Today, eh?

Is it just me, or does it feel like this year literally started last month?

I have found myself wishing for this year it to end like never before. I’m graduating at the end of this year, meaning I have had the most stressful year yet, with the hardest classes yet.

I also find myself beginning to feel the daunting pressures of buying christmas presents for the family and the fast paced, no time for breaks family visits, which don’t get me wrong, I love, but as an extreme introvert, are very tiring and bring on the anxiety. And have me pre-planning my life out for the next 2 months.

But, as autumn is slowly coming to an end and winter approaches here in Canada, I have often found myself and my family going out for walks at our local conservation area, where I had a personal epiphany yesterday. I want to focus on the now- not the “tomorrow we go here, I have to buy presents for so and so, and don’t forget, blah, blah, blah.” I did not realize how much I truly missed when in this head space of checking off mental to-do lists.

I want to practice self-love, focus on the little things that are happening, and stop wishing for this to be over. I’m going to enjoy my last time at school, at home with my family before I move away.

This post is my personal pledge that I will not let these last 2 months be wished away, they’ll be lived like nobody’s business and I’m gonna freaking enjoy this christmas like when I was 5 years old and was clueless to the world of anxiety and stress.

Let’s enjoy today, eh?

B xx
